Crazy Archaeologist

Crazy Archaeologist is an early game demi-boss that is great for ironmen seeking an early rune crossbow drop, completionists looking for the coveted odium and malediction shard drops for collection logs, or anyone looking for something laid back to PVM. As a warning, Crazy Archaeologist is in the WILDERNESS so only bring what you are willing to lose and if you are a hardcore, beware.

Requirements

No specific level requirements although it is recommended to use magic and decent prayer bonus for this boss.

How to get there

The simplest way to get to the Crazy Archaeologist would be to go the teleport interface and searching for "Crazy Archaeologist".

Once you press search for "Crazy Archaeologist", you will then be greeted by the following screen, click the bosses name and you will be prompted with a chat dialogue warning you about teleporting into the wilderness.

After this dialogue pops up you will click continue on the warning, and then press "Yes, teleport into the wilderness"

Strategy

Despite Crazy Archaeologist having a high magic defense, because of his low magic level this makes him susceptible to magic based attacks, such as low level spells, Ibans blast or trident of the seas/swamp. Although any type of magic based strategy will work.

While Crazy Archaeologist can use melee to hit you, this is only the case if you are standing too close to him, To avoid this stand at least a few squares away and he will begin to use ranged attacks instead.

When you see the Crazy Archaeologist shout, "Rain of Knowledge!" it is time for you to prepare to dodge the projectiles shown below. Now beware because these projectiles do damage the 3x3 tiles around where they land and can hurt considerably so make sure you move at least 3 squares away from their destination.

Now continue to dodge these special attacks when they happen until you've successfully defeated the Crazy Archaeologist.

Rewards

Most of the rewards from Crazy Archaeologist are geared towards early game progression, primarily for ironmen, but does offer both the Odium and Malediction shard 2 for those brave enough to attempt to finish these shields.

The more noteworthy rewards consist of:

Rune Crossbow

Red d'hide body

Amulet of power

Odium Shard 2

Malediction Shard 2

As well as other SimpleScape-specific loot but be sure to check the server drop tables by either examining the boss outside of combat or going into the Drop Viewer interface and searching for the Crazy Archaeologist.

Tips & Tricks

As a final reminder this boss is located in the wilderness so it is possible to be attacked and targeted by other players. A good rule of thumb is to turn on the "player indicators" plugin and toggle the draw names on minimap option as it will be easier to spot people teleporting in. It is also recommended to have a quick teleport method to get back to safety.

Conclusion

This early game boss is a decent introduction into learning basic boss mechanics to improve your knowledge and skills to prepare you for mid-game while also propelling your early game progression with some of the loot it can provide to ironmen.
