ZMI Altar
The ZMI Altar is the most common method of training Runecrafting on SimpleScape. It is a simple minigame where you take one of two paths to the Ourania Altar (also known as the ZMI Altar). The altar converts pure essence into an assortment of random runes with a chance of higher level runes being increased the higher Runecrafting level you are. The altar, which requires no talisman, tiara, or cape to enter, gives higher than the normal experience for each pure essence used. Once a player is beyond the white barriers they are unable to teleport out, so be sure to pick the right path for you!
Paths
There are two paths leading to the altar: a shorter, dangerous route, and a longer, safe route.
Longer route
This route is a long winding pathway. Once players reach the end of the path, they will have to squeeze through a small crack in the wall (which has no Agility requirements) to reach the altar.
Shorter route
The shorter route contains Zamorak warriors, mages, rangers and cave lizards, all of which are aggressive to players of any combat level. Higher level players wearing a combination of Magic and Melee armour can run through relatively unscathed. As this is a multicombat area, unprepared players can be rapidly damaged by multiple damage types by enemies with fast attacks.
Rewards
While training at the ZMI you will find abyssal pearls, these can be used as a currency at the Eye of the Abyss Store.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Hat of the eye | 1,000 |
| Robe top of the eye | 1,000 |
| Robe bottoms of the eye | 1,000 |
| Boots of the eye | 1,000 |
| Catalytic talisman | 750 |
| Abyssal red dye | 500 |
| Abyssal blue dye | 500 |
| Abyssal green dye | 500 |
| Lost Bag | 750 |
The Abyss
The Abyss is another common way to train Runecrafting. To access The Abyss simply teleport to there using the teleport interface. The interior of the Abyss is roughly circular, with an 'inner' and 'outer' ring. After the player is teleported into the outer ring, they will have to find a way through to the inner ring where the rifts leading to the runic altars are located.
A number of skill-based obstacles block access to the inner ring, whose positions are randomly generated each time the player enters the Abyss, and can be in different locations for different players at the same time. Passing an obstacle is more likely with a higher level in the relevant skill.
It is suggested to use a pickaxe to quickly get past obstacle closest to the teleport. After getting past the obstacle you can choose to an altar to teleport to. From there you will be able to craft runes at the runecrafting altar you chose. To access it again you will need to teleport out and enter through the abyss again.
Runecrafting Pouches
Runecrafting Pouches can be purchased from the skilling point score.
| Type | Capacity | Skilling Point Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Small pouch | 3 | 500 |
| Medium pouch | 6 | 1,000 |
| Large pouch | 9 | 1.500 |
| Giant pouch | 12 | 2.000 |
AFK Training
Additionally to the methods above, training Runecrafting can also be done via the AFK Zone at home (::afk) using the Runestone essence (gained from mining the balanced runestone in the afk zone) on the Chaotic Altar. The experience gained here scales with your level so it will progress as you do!
