Blood money is a type of tradeable currency used in the blood money store, under the rewards option of the "Emblem Trader" located at home near the slayer masters. Blood money can be obtained via two methods; primarily as a drop from revenants, or secondarily by completing wilderness slayer tasks. This article will serve as a rough guide on how to obtain substantial amounts of blood money in an efficient manner.
Method 1; Killing Revenants
The simplest way, however not necessarily the best way, to obtain blood money is by killing revenants, currently they have a chance to drop 1-5 pieces of blood money at a time, and during the 2x blood money world event this quantity effectively becomes 2-10, making it the most optimal time to obtain blood money using this method. Another helpful piece of advice might be to target the low to medium level revenants if your goal is to obtain blood money as the higher level revenants may have better drop rates for valuable unique loot, but the slower kill times could have an impact on the rate at which you collect blood money.
Method 2; Wilderness Slayer & Archaic Emblems
Arguably, the more effective way to collect blood money is to complete wilderness slayer tasks, while doing this does not directly give you blood money, these tasks have a chance to reward you with archaic emblems ranging from tier 1-10 as drops from monsters in the wilderness. These emblems can be traded in for blood money by talking to the emblem trader. The amount of blood money you receive in exchange for your emblems does not progress linearly with the tier of emblem, simply put, a single tier 10 emblem would give you more blood money than two tier 5 emblems would. This makes it worthwhile to upgrade your emblems to the highest tier before trading them in. Emblems can be upgraded by completing wilderness slayer tasks, in order to do this an emblem must be present in your inventory (not in your looting bag) when you complete a slayer task, and upon completion there is a chance your emblem will be upgraded to the next tier. Carrying multiple emblems is not advised as only one emblem can be upgraded per task, and in the event you have multiple emblems of different tiers in your inventory, the lowest tier will be upgraded.
Strategies to Maximize Blood Money Gains via Slayer
The rate at which you obtain blood money can be optimized by employing some simple strategies. The chances of your emblem being upgraded through wilderness slayer tasks does not depend on the combat level of the monster, wilderness level, tier of emblem or the location of the task, the only factor is the number of kills assigned per task. Currently the chances of an emblem upgrade is determined as follows; you receive a number roll which ranges from 0 to the original number of kills assigned + 55, if the number you roll is greater than 35, then your emblem will be upgraded. This chance has been greatly increased, as previously the number you rolled had to be greater than 55 in order to receive an emblem upgrade. Based on these mechanics, the greater number of monsters assigned per task, the greater your odds are at receiving an emblem upgrade. Therefore, you may consider collecting slayer skip scrolls and slayer task pick scrolls to provide you with optimal tasks for your emblem upgrades, please note; extending your slayer task via a scroll does not increase your chances at receiving an emblem as the original task amount is taken into account not the extended amount.
Some equipment that could prove useful during your blood money grind would be any revenant weapon, expeditious bracelets, as well as a dwarven multi-cannon, as these gear upgrades could significantly speed up your slayer tasks. That being said, obtaining significant amounts of blood money for end game gear purchases is rightfully so a tedious and long grind. Currently the most expensive item, a Vesta's Longsword, which costs 15000 blood money, would require approximately 28.6 tier 10 archaic emblems to purchase. Both blood money and archaic emblems are tradeable and thus some players may find it worthwhile to simply purchase them from others to help mitigate the tedious nature of this grind.
