Vorkath (roughly translated as pathetic failure/weakling/runt in the dragonkin's language) is a draconic boss-monster first encountered during the Dragon Slayer II quest as the penultimate boss. Created by Zorgoth during the Fourth Age's Dragonkin Conflicts, the blue dragon is one of his subjects that has survived his experiments in the laboratory beneath the dragonkin fortress on Ungael. Despite its phenomenal strength, Zorgoth abandoned Vorkath due to its lack of aggression, leaving it as a 'distraction' for any humans that would stumble onto the island.

It is recommended to bring your best in slot melee and magic gear. For this reason a lot of player choose to use Elite Void with the Melee and Magic helmet switch, and a demon bane weapon like: Silverlight, Arclight and Darklight paired with either a crossbow set to rapid or a toxic blowpipe.

Demonic gorillas use all three combat styles to attack. They will change combat styles after missing three hits in that attack style. They are also capable of using protection prayers and will switch to the player's last used combat style against them when they have taken 50 or more damage. Therefore, players must bring at least two different combat styles to kill them. As they have very high magical defence, they are most often killed with melee and ranged.

The gorillas also have a special attack where they send a rock crashing down at the player's position, which can be easily avoided by moving one tile away from the current spot when the attack was initiated. If struck by this rock, the player will take 33% of their current health as damage; it cannot kill the player by itself as a result.

In conclusion, Demonic Gorillas are essential in getting to the end game of SimpleScape, with the jewelry they supply being best in slot in many situations regarding end game content, providing enough reason to warrant grinding for them.
In conclusion, Vorkath is a great mid game Boss on Simplescape. It can introduce a lot of mechanics the player learns which will help with late game grinds. Superior Dragon Bones are great XP for both Regular and Ironmen players.

Vorkath

Vorkath is a powerful undead blue dragon residing on the Island of Ungael. (roughly translated as pathetic failure/weakling/runt in the dragonkin's language).

Vorkath is considered a blue dragon and zombie for the purpose of a Slayer task. As Vorkath is also undead, the Salve amulet and its variants will work on him. However, it does not stack with the Slayer helmet. Vorkath is also immune to recoil damage.

Requirements

While there are no specific requirements to fight Vorkath, I heavily recommend having 90+ Combat stats and Ranged, however you can achieve kills with lower stats - the higher the better obviously. You will also need 39 Magic to cast crumble undead on the minion Vorkath spawns. There are only two staffs that can auto cast this spell - one being a Slayer Staff which you can buy from any slayer master at home. It is imperative to bring one of these as a switch, along with the relevant runes... (Earth, Air and Chaos)

High level food is recommended, for example: Sharks or Manta Ray or Sara Brews paired with Restores. You will also want Prayer Potions, Anti Venom+ (Unless using Serpentine Helmet). a combat potion dependent on which combat style you choose (Most people use Melee or Ranged) and most important and antifire potion of sorts. Heavily recommend getting a Extended Super Antifire, paired with a Anti-Dragon Shield or a DFS.

A good understanding of:

  • Basic Prayer Switching
  • Pathing

Gear Recommendations

It is recommended to bring your best in slot Range or Melee armour, depending on which style you choose. For budget setups and beginners I would recommend using range... KC can be achieved using blessed d'hide and a rune crossbow paired with ruby bolts e and diamond bolts for example. Budget melee can also be achieved with a dragon sword however it will be painfully slow.

Here is an example of a gear/inventory setup for beginners for Ranged:

Fight Overview

Vorkath uses a variety of attacks, primarily ranged and magical attacks, as well as melee if standing next to it. Similarly to the King Black Dragon, it can also use three types of dragonfire: regular, venomous, and prayer-disabling. His dragonfire is stronger than other dragons' and requires more tiers of protection to block. The final common attack is a fireball it launches high in the air that must be dodged; it will instantly kill regardless of the player's dragonfire protection if directly struck, or deal an immense amount of damage if next to it, which is similarly unaffected by dragonfire protection.

  • Here is a detailed image of all Vorkath's attacks:

After six normal/dragonfire attacks, it will use one of two special attacks and alternate between them (i.e., it will use one after 6 regular attacks, then the other after 6 more, and so on):

  • Freezing the player in place and summoning a Zombified Spawn that will approach the player and explode violently if not killed, resulting in up to 61 damage

Vorkath's Freezing / Undead Minion Attack

  • Launching acid pools around the area and rapidly spitting fireballs at the player that must be dodged or they will deal high damage very quickly. During this time, Vorkath has a flat 50% damage reduction. It is best, while walking and not running to find a semi-long line that has no poison and to walk back and forth to avoid these attacks.

Vorkath's Acide Barrage Attack

  • In between these attacks, Vorkath can use his "Deadly Dragonfire" attack which a player must walk 2 tiles away from to avoid damage. If not avoided at all - players will often outright get one shot by this attack...

Vorkath Using Deadly Dragonfire Directly On A Palyer

Once Vorkath is killed, it will return to its original unaggressive stance. It can immediately be reawoken for another battle.

Rare Loot Table

Vorkath drops some really cool upgrades! Including some of the best bones for prayer xp and Vorkath's Head which is used to make the Ava's assembler, and two types of visages for Dragon Fire Shields!

Here is a list of Vorkath's Rare Loot Table:

  • Superior Dragon Bones
  • Vorkath Head for Ava's Assembler
  • Dragon Bone Necklace
  • Draconic Visage
  • Skeletal Visage
  • Pet Vorki

In Conclusion

In conclusion, Vorkath is a great mid game Boss on Simplescape. It can introduce a lot of mechanics the player learns which will help with late game grinds. Superior Dragon Bones are great XP for both Regular and Ironmen players.
